35mm Film Camera Kit | Canon F-1 + 55mm f/1.2 Lens

A beautiful example of my favourite 35mm film camera ever, the Canon F-1. If you've ever watched my social media videos you will have seen this camera many times! A true powerhouse of a 35mm camera, the Canon F-1 has many professional features and is built to stand the test of time. With a removable viewfinder, endless lens options and the capability to shoot up to 1/2000, it's truly one of the best 35mm film cameras ever made. This body in in beautiful condition, and comes with the amazing 55mm f/1.2 SSC lens.

The TTL metering on the Canon F-1 is a remarkable feature. The photocell is neither in the finder prism nor behind the SLR mirror, but on the side of the focusing screen, which directs a fraction of the light to it. In this way the meter works independently of the attached finder, dramatically simplifying the viewfinders as well as the metering system in the camera. The beauty of it is the focusing screen with an embedded mirror. The exposure meter uses the 1.35volt mercury battery, which fortunately may be replaced, using an ordinary hearing aid battery (1.4volt) that is so cheap that it doesn't matter how long they last. The finder prism is neatly slid on, and focusing screen is easily lifted out.

The FD lens mount was newly developed for the new line of FD lenses. The new lens mount enabled fully-coupled automatic exposure metering. The camera system also included the first accessory ever for remote picture-taking with the camera. The many accessories enabled seamless and instant compatibility.

This Canon F-1 comes with an equally beautiful FD 55mm f/1.2 lens SSC lens:

• Manual focus normal prime lens for Canon FD mount SLR cameras released by Canon in 1973. Uses Canon's Super Spectra Coating. Has the older breech lock style bayonet, and orange meter marks. Has half-stop aperture clicks throughout the range. Cost for a new one in 1973 was 50 000 yen . Metal body in black and silver grey finish.

The camera was built to endure 100,000 picture-taking cycles, temperatures ranging from -30 C to 60 C, and 90% humidity. Being a highly durable and reliable camera, the F-1 gained many followers including pros. Except for a one-time revision, the camera was manufactured and sold for ten years.

Some slight marks on the prism (see photos) but nothing that effects use at all.
It comes supplied with a roll of expired 35mm film for that extra vintage look, so you're ready to shoot as soon as it arrives.
